Each year voting delegates from each chapter elect officers into different positions. These officers meet up at least once a month to talk about ways to improve DECA. They devote their time and hard work to ensure that DECA will continue to run smoothly and enhance the DECA experience every year.

PRESIDENT Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School |

| Kyle Birnbaum is ecstatic to be your
2010-2011 President! He was born and raised in Scotch Plains, New
Jersey which is a small town in the Central Region. Kyle is a senior,
attending Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School. Kyle, because of his older brothers positive DECA experiences, joined DECA. It did not take long to discover his love for marketing, competition, and the DECA organization.He decided his freshman year he wanted to hold a leadership role in the club. In Kyle's past three years in DECA, he competed in Quick Serve Restaurant Management and placed in the top ten at International Career Development Conference in Louisville, Kentucky in 2010. Kyle is also involved in a number of other activities including National Honor Society, captain of his Relay for Life team three years in a row, and providing technical assistance to a local Preschool. Kyle also holds a job scooping ice cream in a neighboring town. Kyle has always been committed to all of his extracurricular activities, but DECA has always been his passion. Next year, Kyle plans on attending college on the east coast and intends on double majoring in Business Management and Computer Science. He eventually hopes to one day either open his own business or rise to a management position in a large corporation. |

NORTHERN REGION VICE-PRESIDENT Leonia High School |

| A junior at Leonia High School, Stephen
has been a DECA member for three years. After serving as Leonia's
DECA secretary for the last academic year, Stephen then continued
his ambitions on the state level. He has aided his local chapter by
assisting in many successful fundraisers and events. He looks forward
to helping NJ DECA with all the fundraisers, events and upcoming competitions. Stephan is excited to serve you as NJ DECA Northern Region Vice President this year. His enthusiasm towards success and growth in his, his local chapter, and himself are his motivating factor in DECA. Stephen will connect the state action team with all of the local chapters and members within the Northern Region. He will be communicating with local chapters throughout the upcoming DECA year for their ideas. Stephen recently completed his training for the Leonia Volunteer Fire Department, he is a second year member of the Varsity Swim Team, Mock Trial attorney, a member of Leonia's poets and writer's club, a lifeguard, and member of the National Honor Society. He challenges himself in school by taking both AP and honors classes. Stephen attributes his success to his mom, Claudia Portnoy; his advisor, Rowena Gianfredi; the members of Leonia DECA; and all his friends who have supported him in becoming the NJ Northern Region Vice President. He looks forward to serving as your 2010-11 Northern Region Vice President and will help make NJ DECA the best it can be. |

CENTRAL REGION VICE-PRESIDENT Monmouth Regional High School |

| Julie Rodriguez is your 2010-2011 Central
Region Vice President. She personally has been involved in her DECA
chapter at Monmouth Regional High School for the past three years.
Each year she has served as both an active member and a leading officer.
She took the roll of Community Chair freshman year, and Vice President
both sophomore and junior year. She currently serves as chapter president
for her senior year. Outside of DECA, Julie is a very overly involved
student. She is a varsity soccer player (go falcons!), and is involved
in many organizations like the National Honor Society, Student Government,
Principal Student Advisory Committee, and Falcon Ambassadors to name
a few. DECA has given Julie so many life skills and wonderful memories. Because of her involvement through DECA, Julie has decided to major in marketing and minor in communication. She hopes to stay with this organization throughout college and possibly her career. Julie loves to meet and help DECA members. SOUTHERN REGION VICE-PRESIDENT Haddonfield Memorial High School |

| Samantha Gardner is extremely excited
to serve as this year's Southern Region Vice President. She is a junior
and this will be her third year participating in DECA. Sam's DECA
achievements include attending International Career DECA Conference
(ICDC) twice, helped to expand Haddonfield's DECA Chapter, and served
as president during her sophomore year. She is dedicated to and passionate
about DECA. Her chapter leadership and competitions in Hotel & Lodging Management have given her an expansive understanding of the organization, and have prepared her to serve on the State Action Team. Besides DECA, Samantha is involved in many clubs at school. She participates in Model United Nations, Academic Challenge, STAND, and the community service organization LEO Club (the youth organization of the Lions Club). She volunteers every month to cook meals for a homeless shelter in Camden, NJ. She is also the Editorial Editor of her school newspaper, and was a news reporter during her sophomore year. Samantha plays tennis all year round, and plays for Haddonfield's team in the fall, and runs track during the winter. Sports and clubs have broadened her interests and exposed her to different aspects of many subjects. This past summer she attended Camp Business at Drexel University, and went to China for a Model UN Conference. Samantha looks forward to serving NJ DECA this year, and wants help every member to have an amazing experience. She welcomes your opinions and input on how to make this year the best it can be and to help every member feel the same passion for DECA that she does. |

RECORDING SECRETARY Freehold Township High School |

| Zoe is currently a senior
and third year DECA member at Freehold Township High School. She is
currently serving as the 2010-2011 New Jersey DECA State Recording
Secretary. She also previously served as her chapter's 2009-2010 Historian.
Zoe has participated in two regional competitions, two state competitions,
and a national conference as well. Aside from DECA, Zoe is involved in National Honor Society and Junior State of America. Outside of school, she is in B'nai B'rith Youth Organization (BBYO) serving as regional secretary and treasurer. Zoe holds her advanced open water scuba diving certification and loves water sports. Other hobbies include Photoshop, movie editing, and running. She will be majoring in marketing and communications in college. Her dream job is to be a part of the marketing department at Pixar Animation Studios. Zoe plans to work hard with her fellow officers to ensure the 2010-2011 New Jersey DECA will be the best it can be! |

| Daniel Deevey is very excited to be joining
the New Jersey DECA State Action Team for 2010-2011 as the Communications
Secretary. Daniel believes that his ability to talk to people will
help make communication in DECA better. Daniel is a senior at Monroe Township High School. He has been very active in Monroe's DECA Chapter over the last two years. His participation includes helping with DECA Week and DECA car show fundraiser. This year he will serve as chapter president. Daniel has attended both States and International DECA (ICDC) conferences. He attended ICDC competing in the Entrepreneurship event. Daniel loves sports. Freshman year in played football and presently plays golf for Monroe Township HS. After high school Daniel wants to go to a college to major in sports marketing. He is a extremely big New York Yankees and New York Jets fan and hopes to one day be able to work within those organizations. Daniel hopes that the upcoming 2010-2011 DECA year will be the best one ever. |

| Shikha Khinvasara is a four-year DECA
member and a senior at Monroe Township High School. She has served
as her school's Junior Class DECA President and has attended all Central
Jersey Regional and State conferences since freshman year. Her other
accomplishments include placing 1st in Hotel and Lodging Management
and 2nd in QuizBowl at the regional level. Outside of DECA, Shikha enjoys playing tennis and volunteering at the March of Dimes. She serves as a student representative for the Monroe Township Human Relations Council. She also loves teaching math and reading skills to younger children at her local Kumon Learning Center. Through these activities, Shikha demonstrates her passion, ability to work as a team player, and readiness to take on leadership roles - all of which she will take with her on the journey to fulfill her duties as State Treasurer. Shikha is honored to be a part of the 2010-2011 State Action team. She is excited to meet and interact with members across the state and is looking forward to a wonderful year with New Jersey DECA! |
